Be Accountable for your Goals!

Hello family!
Well, this wasn't a terribly exciting week, but it was still a good one!
Tuesday: we had zone training. We talked all about setting goals and being accountable for them. Our mission didn't do so hot for our December goal, so now we really need to work hard. We didn't reach the year goal, so what do they do to the 2014 goal, they made it even higher! hahaah so the new goal for 2014 is 801 truly converted SOULS. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I will be serving for the entire year of 2014 so I really gotta work hard! Oh and guess what, on the bright side, even though we didn't meet our December goal, or our year goal, my zone was the only zone to meet and exceed our goal for December! woooooo! go Lodi Zone!! The rest of the day was good, we contacted some referrals from the spanish elders and hahaha, we must never actually meet the people they are talking about cause almost every referral they give us is SO MEAN. ahhaha we walk up to the door and they just start shouting at us to go away haahahah. Soooo funny! It usually ends up being the spouse of who the referral is supposed to be. so mean. lol. Oh and when we got home that night I read that talk from the ensign that you suggested Dad. It was a good one! :)
Wednesday: Oh this was a pretty funny day somehow hahaha. No one was answering or could talk to us at all, so we went to visit Debbie. She is the lady who was making her own pain medication hahaha. And well anyways she moved to a new place, and its SO NICE! So we are super happy for her that she is in a better environment. Its beautiful really! We drove up and there was like a big ol beautiful fountain, and a pool! hahaha I was hoping a butler would come out and offer us lemonade hahah, but no one did ;).  So we are really happy for her, it should really help her to clean up and everything! Then we had dinner with Judy, we switched it up and went for Mexican instead of to Dennys. Then after dinner we went to Judys so SisG could relax. And hahahah while we were there a Kirby Vacuum salesman came and ended up giving us his whole demonstration hahaah. Oh my gosh, it was hilarious. So if you're interested in buying a new vacuum for $3000 kirby is the way to go! hahahah. I'd rather buy a CAR!
Thursday: In the morning we had a short training with President Lewis. Man he is just the best, really! He gave us a lot of good advice, the one thing I  really remember us talking about was not giving up after the  first or second try. Then someone in my zone related it to when Nephi, Laman and Lemuel went to get the plates from Laban. We don't know, but maybe the reason it didn't work out the first two times was because the Lord was preparing everything. If they would have given up they never would have gotten the plates, also maybe they went the second time and gave all of their riches for the exact reason that Laban was celebrating cause of all his new wealth and then got drunk, and because he was drunk they were able to get the plates! So it all goes back to the Lord has a plan for us!! And it's all in his timing! Cool to think about :). After visiting a few more people we went right back to Lodi for our interviews with President Lewis. Hahaha oh man, on the way there I did an oops. I was driving behind a car and it drove over something, and it looked just like cardboard, and I figured since they drove over it I could too, hahaha so I drove over it and it got stuck under the car! ahhhhh! So then it was stuck and it didn't sound like cardboard, so I pulled over and tried to get it out. (and just because this always happens I was in a white skirt haha) So I was laying on the ground trying to get it out (it ended up just being a small like 6inch plastic road thing) but in the process I hit my hand  on one of the pipes under the car and burnt my pinky! hahaha oooops. Then we went to interviews, it was good times, president Lewis asked us about a scripture we'd been pondering lately and about what "weapon of rebellion" we wanted to lay down.
Friday: We had weekly planning, haha our planning keeps getting quicker and quicker...! And guess what the package you sent came! Thanks so much!!!!! I love it! And you! Nothing too exciting happened this day, but one exciting thing was that we went inside of Jims house for the first time! ( The whole time we taught him we either taught at the church or at a memebrs house, and everytime we visited we just talked on the front step!) So it was exciting! Hahah good ol Jim.
Saturday: Ohhh this day started out really slow. It was gloomy out, drizzling outside and no one was answering at all! We used like 2 hours worth of plans in like 30 minutes ahhaha. Not good. But somehow it all worked out. A member from Lodi named Billy came out with us for a bit, he is Darrens age. We visited some people and some people actually let us talk! Haha how exciting! But for a lot of other people their precious sports games were on so they couldn't talk ahaha. We went to visit this old man named Wayne that we met while tracting and hahaha. We gave him a book of mormon so we asked him if he had been reading it. Then all of a sudden his wife pops out of nowhere, and ahahah she hated us! Oh my gosh! So she starts going off about how she only reads the bible bla bla bla then we tell her about Jesus Christ said he had sheep of another fold who he went to visit, and the Book of Mormon is proof that he went to visit them. Then she says "You are NOT of my fold" hahahahahahaa, I think my jaw dropped I was so shocked. It was sooooo funny! Some people! they don't even have any information about what they are saying isn't true or aren't even willing to give it a chance. Lol, but as we walked away we heard her getting mad at Wayne for talking to us. very funny. Oh by the way her name was MADdie. Makes sense ;). Oh and later that night we went to see Bill, he is a verrrrrrry less active (we never call anybody inactive hahaha its a missionary thing) member, and he is an alcoholic and a smoker, but he has a very strong testimony and wants to come back. So we went to visit him and his wife Debbie. They both said that they would like to receive a blessing. (Debbie was some crazy crazy crazy back issues, I cant even begin to explain the surgeries and stuff shes had, but just for a sample, she has 2 giant rods and a screw on every vertibrae, and they had to cut her open from the front and take her stomach and intestines out and put them on the table so they could operate on her back... hows the mental image?) So anyways, needless to say Debbie is always in a lot of pain. So we talked to them a lot and arranged for someone to come over Sunday and give them a blessing.
Sunday: Well we now moved to 1 o clock church, I don't really like it. But i'll survive. Ward coucil is at 11, and then done at 12, so then we just hung out at the church till church started haha. Sacrament was awesome, really, the talks were just great! then sunday school and RS were good too! Then we went and visited some people had diner at the most dynamic home ever ahahahahah oh my gosh. then we went to Bill and Debbies and they got their blessing. Well actually only Bill got his, Debbie I think changed her mind.... which is sad, cause seriously it could really help her out! But ya, then we called it a night!
I Hope you all had a great week too :)
Well I love you sooooo MUCH!

Rick and Shirley!!

Rick, Shirley, Sister Gutierrez and Me!

Quarentine isn't very fun!!

Hello Hello Hello!

Well I got to tell you about this week, well since wednesday haha. I've been living in QUARANTINE. Lol. I'll update more, but i'm emailing from the house that we live at right now hahha

So anyways, i emailed on new years day! After we did our shopping and stuff like that, Sister Gutierrez was feeling really sick. Like she said her chest hurt really bad, and she felt like she couldn't breathe. So after we got home she just laid down and was resting, and she was like moaning in her sleep. It was very sad. So I was trying to be a good companion, I made her soup and was bringing her medicine and stuff if she needed it, and jus helping out. And I cancelled our dinner appointment for the night.
THURSDAY was RICK AND SHIRLEYS BAPTISM! Wahoooo! What an exciting day! So we woke up, and I studied, SisG couldn't function so she just kind of laid in bed, and then at 12 we went to go set everything up. Well it didn't take very long to set everything up, so SisG was just laying on the chairs and I was playing some hymns on the piano. Then it was finally time for the baptism :) Rick and Shirley came and were looking so cute! We got their baptismal forms filled out and then the program started. They were really worried we were going to invite the whole town of Galt, haha we didn't. But we got the whole program and it was really cute. It was all members of the Rhodes family! (which is the members in the ward who they are related too). And then this girl from the ward named Ayana sang a song, she has the most beautiful voice, and she sang at Jims baptism too. So they got baptized and it was so cute. Shirley was first, then Rick, and then they hugged in the font! It was so cute! And all of the little kids started chanting "kiss! Kiss!" but they didn't kiss haha, but it was verrrry cute. I couldn't stop smiling haha my face kinda hurt afterwards hahaha. Then they got confirmed at the baptism, which was very nice. I can tell this is just the beginning for them! They are going to be great members where ever they decide to settle down! Ohhh i wish that they were staying in Galt :( but they're not. oh well. But it was a great service. Also haha on the bottom of the program it said "Refreshments" and we forgot to ask people to bring refreshments but hahaha I brought one bag of Hershey kisses, so at the back table there was a tiny bowl of Hershey kisses hahaahha. Everyone was like "these are the refreshments?!" hahaha very funny. So then after the baptism SisG was almost dead I think, and we were talking to Brother Bigelow and a few other people and they said we should go to the ER and get her looked at. They were worried she has pneumonia or something! So we were like ohh boy. Well doing anything medical on the mission is so annoying cause we have to call the nurse, then she has to call someone else, and then he has to call someone.  Soooo SisG thought that she heard from somewhere that if we went to a hospital or something like that, that we needed to have an american citizen with us. I was pretty sure we didn't, but I didn't feel like arguing with my dying companion. So we called all sorts of people to try and come with us to Lodi to the urgent care. So Peggy, came and picked us up. Well after a long time of waiting in the urgent care, we found out that SisG's lungs were like stuck together and she wasn't really getting any oxygen, so thats why she was in so much pain and couldn't breathe. So the doctor did some lung thing and made it so she couldn't breathe again. Then he also said that she has the flu and is highly contagious! haha so she has to stay in for 5-6 days. and he also prescribed me and the williams with medicine so we wouldn't catch the flu. So then we had to go get all the drugs, the pharmacy said it would cost $117 for the medicine he prescribed me. But thats not right cause we have our mission insurance which somehow makes everything $10. So then I called the mission nurse to ask her what was up with that, but hahaha we never told her we were going to the urgent care so she was mad we bypassed her. And then ya. Somehow it all ended up working out. We got all of our drugs and now we've been on house arrest. lol, jk. it feels that way though.

So ya, since thursday we've just been at home. Literally I think I have been outside for a total of 5 minutes since thursday. I'm going crazy.  It's a good thing Rick and Shirley got baptized, and its a good thing we don't have a whole lot of other things going on right now. But ya, we've just been relaxing and watching movies.... all church movies! hahah there are some pretty cheesy ones! But ya I can't wait to get back to work. Today should be our last day, and I think we are going to go to Lodi to go shopping and stuff. So not total quarantine. hahaha.
Oh and mom that book you gave me, I love it! I've already finished it. haha I read it in 2 days. Very good!

Well, that is all that has happened since Wednesday. Hopefully next weeks email will be full of more information!! hahaha

WELL I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Love.

Rick and Shirley are Getting Baptized!

FAMILY!
Wow I haven't emailed you since LAST YEAR! haahha, oh those jokes never get old.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I had so much fun talking to you all on Christmas, it made it such a special Christmas! A lot of the other missionaries waited to open all of their presents and stuff, but I think it made it an even more special Christmas because I wasn't worrying about presents or anything I was just looking forward to talking to you the whole time :). How fun it was! It didn't even seem like it had been 4 months since the last time we talked! Oh I love you SOOO much!!
Anyways, this week was great!
I thought the day after Christmas was going to be really hard but it actually wasn't that bad. It seemed like I dreamed the whole thing hahah. A really great dream. But we dived right in and got right back to work. first we went to visit Rick and Shirley... I think I told you about them before. They are the older people who are living on the Rhodes property, and we had a lesson with them when SisG didn't have a voice, and we invited them to be baptized and they said yes! woohoo. Well we went over to see how they were doing since we last talked to them, they were doing fine and stuff. (they sold their house and just live in an RV) So they were doing fine, and they talked to us a loooot. hahah, but by the end of it we weren't able to talk about very much, and we realized there probably isn't enough time for them to get baptized since they are leaving on January 3rd. So after we went and saw them we had district meeting, hahah our new district leader is great, his name is Elder Messick and he makes our district meetings very fun and interactive. This one was about how we need to teach clearly. So he had us instruct him on how to make a peanut butter sandwich, and hahahah we really needed to be clear. Someone told him he needed to "stick the knife in the peanut butter" so thats exactly what he did hahaha he didn't unscrew the lid or anything, just stabbed it right in. Oh we were all laughing so hard it was fun. So a good object lesson on how we need to be clear. Cause even though we understand something, someone else might not haha.
Friday we had weekly planning, and we didn't have too much to plan, but we always manage to make great plans, but somehow they never go how we want them too hahah agency.... ;). It was nice day though. We ended it by having Sushi with one of the families in the ward!
Saturday was great, we dived right in and worked worked worked the whole day. We basically always do that, but this time we really were working hard and  testifying to everyone! We got a lot accomplished so that was awesome.
Sunday we were at church and guess who came! Rick and Shirley!! Wooooo! It was so exciting! And they loved church! They loved all of the talks, and they were all really good. One of the speakers was about how great things happen by small and simple means. So it was perfect. And then a girl gave her mission farewell talk. She had a really cool story, summarized: she wanted to go earlier but nothing was working out at all, she had distractions, road blocks and all sorts of stuff BUT she got called to the mexico chiuaua mission whiiiich apparently they didn't let Caucasian sisters in until just a couple months ago. SO if she would have put her papers in earlier she wouldn't have been able to go to that exact mission! Very cool! So after church we did our studies and stuff (oh by the way we were doing a fast of thanks! It was mission wide, and it was to be grateful for all of the baptisms and miracles we've seen in our mission this year) THen after studies we went and saw Rick and Shirley. annnnd we talked about how small and simple things great things come to pass and then booom we invited them to be baptized on THURSDAY! Annnnd they said yes! Soooo! Rick and Shirley are getting baptized tomorrow!! Wooohoooo! very exciting! They are honestly just awesome and so prepared. So after we saw them we went to the house of the girl who gave her farewell talk and we talked all about missions are the mtc and all the fun stuff! Hahah it was a blast. They are suuuch a great family! After dinner we went and visited more people and then called it a night! We were just so excited about Rick and shirley!! yayaay!
Monday: Well since Rick and Shirley are getting baptized, they need to be taught all of the lessons. hahaa So we went over to teach the plan of salvation, and then if it felt right we would include the gospel of Jesus Christ. Well we did! And then they asked for a review of joseph Smith! hahaha so we ended up teaching 3 lessons! It was crrrazy! But awesome! And they weren't overwhelmed or anything! it was really good. The rest of the day was busy too so it was a great guy. Hahah we had dinner at a members on the street we tracted where the Hindu guy lives and he saw us and came and said hi and talked to us for a while hahah it was kind of hilarious.
Tuesday: Now this was a great day! New Years Eve! So we started out with district meeting, which was fun. We were talking about importance of church attendance, so inviting people to church and about preparing people for baptism. So we had another interactive lesson where we had a relay race type thing! haha very fun!  After that we went to give Rick and Shirley the lesson on the commandments and then they got their baptismal interviews! And while they were being interviewed we made the programs! So great use of time. Then we visited more people, then picked up our dinner, then went to applebees with our district for dessert then came back to galt and played games with our zone! It was so fun! haha i love our zone. We played a game called zombies, which is just like tag, and once you get tagged by a zombie you are a zombie. Hahah it was a lot of fun. So ya it was a great New Years Eve! ahahah. Went to bed at 10:30 hahaha.
But ya it was a great week, lots and lots of exciting things!!
Tomorrow is Rick and Shirleys baptism! So while you're on the road to idaho you can think of them! :)
WELL I love you SO much and I loved talking to you!!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!

Another Awesome Week in Sacramento!

Hello family!
Can you believe we will be talking to eachother in 8 days?! Woohoo!! I'm so excited. I am planning on calling around 3 my time, so 4 your time. I hope that works out. Also, it will be either skype, facetime, or google+. whatever you prefer!! Brother Williams has a mac, so lots of options. I will probably email you on Christmas Eve to figure it out for surezies. So until then :)
Well this was a good week! They're all good weeks, some are better than others, but still all good ;)
Tuesday: we were supposed to have a new member lesson with Jim at the Bigelows. But we got to the Bigelows, and Jim called us and cancelled. So we still stayed and then had lunch at the Bigelows hot chili! haha, it was good stuff. Then we went home to grab something and we checked the mail annnnnnd there was something for me! You got me that cd!!! Wow! Thank you so much!! That was so nice! I put it in the car and we've been listening to it all week :) I looooove it! Thank you so much!!  We were supposed to have an appointment with this lady named Julie at 4, but we showed up and no one was home.... soo we left her a note telling her to call us, sooo ya, we'll take that as a shes not interested haha. Then we went to see Carly, annnnd well she basically dropped us. We kind of saw this coming, she said that she realizes its a big commitment, and shes not sure if she can keep it or not. So i guess its a good thing that she realizes its serious, but its still kind of sad. Then we visited more people, the usual. But in the night we had done all of our plans but still had some time before we needed to go, so we were trying to figure out what to do. So we look in the area book and we see this name we've never seen before. So we go visit her, her name is Roxy, and she is the coolest lady ever! She is the only member in her family, but she has 3 adorable kids and a husband. And she has been inactive for a long time, but sounds like she really wants to come back!! So we were very excited! she was so nice and even gave us a poinsettia when we left!
Wednesday: This was our temple conference day!! Woohooo!! So at 9 Judy came and picked us up to drive us to the temple. Before we went to the temple we stopped at a lds bookstore. I bought "Jesus the Christ" I'm excited to read it! And Judy bought us Christmas presents :) awwww so sweet! I love her! Then Judy dropped us off at the chapel beside the temple. First we took a picture, and the picture is only of 4 zones! I'll send them to you! And then we had a cute little program with musical numbers, videos and talks! It was really cute. They also did a little nativity hahaha. It was really funny, especially cause an elder and sister were Mary and Joseph. Hahah the stood about 6 feet away from each other. Then we had lunch, and watched our white Christmas video. Then we talked about the temple then got to do a session! It was great :) I love the temple! Then after the temple Sister and Brother Hinds drove us home! Hahaha and we thought we would just be driving home, but it took a long time haahah we stopped and got wendys, then got gas, then stopped at the store called hobby lobby. Its my new favourite store!! hahah its a good thing its not in our area! Or else i'd be broke. We bought hole punches for our planners, and bought a cute little present for Peggy! It was a good day.
Thursday: After our studies the sister Sisters came and checked our house for cleanness. We passed with flying colors, and they loved the toilet seat cover ;) hahaha. I love it too! Then we had our district meeting, it was good! Then we had a lesson with Lloyd at the Nelsons, all about temple work. And Lloyd isn't doing too good :( he's been smoking again. We're sad about that, but we're helping him however we can! Then in the night we stopped by the Jason Rivers with bro. lamb (he is the eq pres) and they were really busy but Jason and Bro Lamb really bonded! So that was good. hahah me and SisG were just kinda standing there while they talked about their boy talk lol
Friday: Weekly planning today... its hard when we don't have any solid investigators, but if the plans we made work out, then they will be awesome! Hahah nothing too much happened this day, we tried the house of Juan, and well now we know he is officially ignoring us lol, he came up to the door, looked out the window and then walked away hahahah. Good times. Rejection doesn't phase us missionaries. Then we were having correlation with Bro Hinds at the church, and hahahah we got there before him and we were looking at all of the plaques of the missionaries who are from the Galt ward. And being girls we were talking about who we thought was the cutest and stuff, and then all of a sudden i turn around and hahahahaah the Elders were standing behind us and heard everything we were saying! hahaah it was hilarious! They said they were happy to know we were normal lol.
Saturday: Today hardly felt like a saturday, which is good! haha usually saturdays feel so long! This was full of visiting people, and 2 dinner appointments hahaha. oops. We had dinner at Dennys with Judy at 3:30, we weren't going to miss this, we love Judy too much! She gave us our Christmas presents :) She bought me a ctr ring! verrrry cute! And then we played the crane game (its tradition) except we playd the .50 cent one! We are moving up in the world! and we each won a big one! haha woohoo! Then right after dinner with Judy we had dinner with the Maestrettis, hhaahah I tride not too eat too much at dennys, but by the time we got to maestrettis i was so full, I was chewing and I thought i was gunna explode! hahaha not reccomended to have 2 dinner appointments in a row. The Maestrettis are a Less active family we're working with, so thats why we went. SisG was sick and couldn't talk anymore because her throat hurt so bad so we went home at about 7. hahaha she passed right out when we got home.
Sunday: Great sunday! No ward council, GREAT talks in church, a cool chime number by the youth and then a nice relief society! We had dinner with the Chaffins (sister Chaffin is the daughter of Brother Bigelow) annnnd get this! They have a son who is serving in Salt Lake right now and she was showing us his missionary board, and its got a few pictures are stuff. And in one of the pictures was Steven Darker! So apparently Elder Chaffin and Steven were really close on the mission! So if you see Stevens mom or sister or something you'll have to tell them I'm serving in Elder Chaffins parents ward! Small world! Then wow we had a crazy afternooon haha since SisG passed out right when we got home the night before we didn't plan for Sunday. And we were doing really bad with all of our goals. So we were visiting people like crazy and visiting every part member family possible! It was crazy! and somehow we managed to meet all of our goals! and we even got to go to the stake choir christmas thing!  It was grrreat!
Monday: It wasn't pday, and it was transfer monday, which apparently are usually hard to focus and no body does anything, but it felt like a normal day for us! We actually had a really productive day! We went and saw Roxy and brought Sister Chaffin with us, and had a grrrreat talk! She wants to have us teach her kids! woohhoo! Then we were visiting lots of other people and doing lots of missionary work. Then transfer calls. hahah we're both staying. Wow. So I guess I don't get a follow up trainer, and SisG will be in Galt for 6 months! hahah, I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen to me. And only other changes in our area are, our district leader Elder Gilray is leaving to be a zone leader in stockton! And now elder Messick is our district leader, and I guess we'll meet the new elder on Thursday! Wowza
today we went to the flea market and now we're emailing and shopping and we'll go see the other people who are leaving! I don't think too many people are leaving our zone! But I guess we'll see!!
WELL I love you so much!!!! SEE YOU SOON!!!! :)
